The quiet comedian

Meet my first-born, Jacob — my little baby who’s somehow grown into a teenager over night! Seriously, he is now taller than me (which is quite scary). Jacob is a quiet kid with a fantastic sense of humor. At home, he’s all jokes, laughs, and goofy moments — the kind of kid who can make you smile even on the gloomiest but, put Jacob in any big social situation or loud place, and his brain just throws up the biggest “NOPE” sign. He’ll instantly shut down, his face frozen like he’s seen a ghost, it's not for him!

We’ve joked for years that Jacob hates “everybody with a face” — his way of saying big crowds and busy places aren’t his jam. Turns out, Jacob’s been masking his anxiety for a long time. As he’s grown older, we’re realising more and more what’s going on behind that quiet smile. We’re working with lots of lots of people to put in some support to help him, and I truly believe he’s going to conquer the world in his own special way.

Master of the virtual world

Jacob is a gamer through and through. He lives more in the virtual world than in the real one — and honestly, it’s pretty amazing to watch him in action. There’s a monitor, TV, laptop, and an iPad all open and running at the same time. It’s like watching a symphony of clicks, scrolls, and keyboard taps, and somehow, he makes all of it look like pure magic. I honestly have no idea what he’s doing, but I swear, whatever it is, it’s impressive!

Jacob’s world is a blur of game characters, boss fights, and digital adventures. And although he might be quiet in person, he lights up behind those screens — and honestly, I think he’s a hero in his own right. No matter how big the world feels sometimes, I know Jacob’s going to find his place. He’s my firstborn, my heart, and I’ve got a huge soft spot for this quiet but mighty kiddo.
