Staying Warm This Winter Without Touching the Heating
With energy prices still ridiculous, I’ve been trying to find ways to keep us warm without the gas meter crying at me. Enter: oversized hooded blankets from Online Home Shop.
I grabbed them for as little as £5 each – which means I could kit out myself and all five children. For less than the cost of one week’s “Mom, can I have a snack?” grocery run, we’re now cocooned in fleece and pretending we live in luxury.
Why We’re Obsessed
-
Warmth without the guilt: I refuse to heat the whole house just because one child “feels a chill.” Put your hoodie on, love.
-
Super cosy: They’re like wearing a blanket. Which means when one of the kids inevitably throws up on mine, I can just wash it and move on.
-
Different styles: Grey for me (because that’s the colour of my soul by bedtime), sparkle for the teen, tie-dye for the little chaos-makers.
-
Washing machine safe: Essential when one child decides to use theirs as a napkin.
Our Picks
Grey fluffy Hoodie
This one’s mine. Because if I don’t claim a colour, they’ll take it.

Perfect for my teenager who thinks life is a runway. At least she’s warm while she glares at me.

Final Thoughts
Instead of fighting over the thermostat, we’re now a family of fleece-wrapped marshmallows. Cosy, slightly ridiculous-looking, but warm.

Save Money, Stay Cosy
Winter is creeping in, and with five kids that usually means my heating bill is about to explode. Not this year. My secret weapon? Blanket hoodies.
They keep us warm, they save me money, and they’re honestly brilliant for those family nights in. Imagine it: a dark wintery night, all of us snuggled on the sofa in our blanket hoodies, snacks and drinks in hand, and Home Alone on the TV to kick off the colder season. That’s our kind of perfect night — cosy, fun, and without the scary heating bill.
And here’s the best part: they’re all on sale right now. I managed to grab ours for as little as £5 each. Bargain of the year! But I’m certain once winter really hits, the prices will creep up — so grab them while you can.
